Candler and Garrett met at Young Harris College where he played lacrosse and she excelled in golf (she is currently the low-round record holder)! The pair met on St. Patrick’s Day in 2018 during a party thrown by Garrett. He immediately noticed Candler and was completely smitten! The two began dating and of course, fell in love. After their time at Young Harris, Garrett left for Duke and Candler continued on to Mercer Medical in Savannah to pursue radiology. 5 years later, on St. Patrick’s Day, Garrett proposed!
The plan came together perfectly! Candler and Garrett’s family traveled to Savannah for Candler’s match ceremony (she matched with her number 1 choice, UNC Chapel Hill)! He planned a wonderful lunch at The Gastonian to celebrate her great accomplishment. The family looked on with happy tears and excitement as Garrett walked Candler to the fountain in the courtyard and dropped to a knee and asked her to marry him! She was completely surprised and through happy tears, she said YES! The whole family cheered as Garrett scooped Candler into his arms for a loving embrace, it was absolutely beautiful!
When we asked Garrett what he loves most about Candler, he enthusiastically replied, “I love her drive to succeed and to make a tangible impact in the world. I love her dedication to family and how she constantly puts me over her needs – but we work because I do the same for her”.
