It’s a precious thing to photograph sweet babies! Booking your Savannah Family Photography / Lifestyle Newborn session in your home is calm and pretty quiet. There is no formal posing, just guidance. There may be a few portraits taken with you smiling at the camera, however, it’s mostly a journalistic approach. If you’re not sure what to do during certain moments, just look at your baby and love on her.
Newborn lifestyle sessions are so special. It allows parents to look back on this sweet time with your newborn baby and relive those first snuggles. There are a few things you can do prior to your newborn session to prepare.
1. Focus on de-cluttering the areas of your home we will be using. Do not go overboard! The living room, nursery and master bedroom are the areas we will be using.
2. Have your family outfits ready plus a backup. We will be photographing you laying down, standing up, from up above, from below. Clothing should allow you to move as freely as you can. Also, ditch the shoes! Make sure you have a solid outfit ready for baby as well as a white onesie or muslin swaddle.
3. Prep the crib with either a white or neutral crib sheet. Crib sheets with too much color will reflect onto baby’s face. Busy patterns will also distract from your baby in the photos. Simple is best!
4. Have baby fed before we arrive, be sure you both eat too. Start feeding your baby 20 minutes prior to our arrival. Be prepared to do bonus small feedings if baby gets fussy!
5. Relax and ENJOY. We understand how exhausted you may be feeling after your new baby arrives. Planning ahead will help alleviate any stress and allow for you to go with the flow. We plan plenty of time for your session, so please, enjoy every moment!
